Fenix 6 PRO and USB connexion

Hi,

I don't manage to connect my Fenix 6 Pro to my PC to update it with Garmin Express.

- I tested with 3 different cables (all of them genuine Garmni cables and cleaned)

- I tested on 3 différent PC's (all of them with Garmin USB drivers installed)

It doesn't word, windows doesn't reconize the watch.

An unknown peripheral appears, but in error (code 43)

What cant I do ?

The firmware of the watch is up to date (made in WiFi) but it is now ipossible to me to put music on it.

If a reset the watch, will I lose all my parameters and face clocks ?

Best regards

  • I've done a reset factory settings ... Fenix 6 still not recognized

  • Hi, I think you could browse for a possible solution in the Garmin Express Windows Forum and if no help can be found from the existing postings, your could re-post your question there.

  • Hey, I was having the same issue and contacted support about it. They suggested I try doing a MASTER RESET, which worked initially. Windows no longer showed an error message and I could see the watch in Garmin Express again, but just a few hours later it's back to not being recognized. (watch also not recognized on MacOS and other laptops)
They prepared an RMA for me, so I'm getting a replacement, I advise you contact support as well and get yours replaced.

Doing a master reset works like this:
    Turn off your watch
Hold DOWN, START/STOP and BACK/LAP at the same time
Turn on the watch while holding the buttons above
After the first beep, release START/STOP
After the second beep, release the other buttons
The watch will then do the reset, which seems to work different from the factory reset done from within the watch settings.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your answers.

I did a Master Reset, and it didn't fix my problem.

I found another tip, and it works fine for me.

Ensure the battery is charged before completing the steps below

    1. Disconnect the Garmin from computer and ensure the Garmin is powered off
    2. Press and hold the Start/Stop button
    3. Plug the watch into the computer
    4. Continue to hold Start/Stop for at least 30 seconds
    5. Release Start/Stop

The watch should now function normally.

    Best regards

  • I have has various charging issues with the Fenix 5,5+ and 6. Cable changes have never resolved it.

For the Fenix 6 I had the unknown device issue where it would charge but never would appear on the USB bus. This occured immediately after an upgrade to 16.60 and seemed to be a known issue at the time. The device was replaced by Garmin
