I haven't used my Fenix 6 directly with my smart trainer yet (Wahoo Kickr), but I'd like to.
Previously I've been using Zwift to ride, but I plan to use my PC/monitor to watch other things (movies, etc).
I'm looking for something that will control the Kickr, so that it can control the resistance based on the workout and I don't have to switch gears all the time.
I see that my watch has a "Bike Indoor" activity, and the watch is already paired with my smart trainer. However, as far as workouts go, I only see "Today's Suggestion" on the watch.
I then went to the website Garmin Connect -> Training -> Training Plans, and created a training plan from there just to test and see what it would do. They all say "an indoor trainer is optional". I'm not sure if this will control the trainer? Or only track my ride? I do see this new plan as an option now on my watch when I choose Indoor Bike now (it's ready to put me on a warm-up)
Will this work as I hope it will? (watch will control the trainer's resistance)
Also, another thing I was thinking about... It looks like I can select "Courses". I don't really have many good ones saved, but can I download a course from somewhere and then have the trainer mimic that course (resistance on uphills, etc)? Where do you recommend I find some courses to import? I think with this option though I'd need to switch gears where a workout is ERG based right?
Any guidance on using my Garmin Fenix 6 + Kickr directly would be appreciated. Thank you.
