Why does the purple line stop being displayed half way through following a course which has been synced to my Fenix 6 sapphire?

I synced a course in connect and transfers to my Fenix 6x. I start a trail run, select a course to follow and the purple line shows me the course on my watch. Then for no discernible reason, the purple line disappears mid course, as if my watch isn’t now following any course.

this has luckily happened on routes I have been fairly familiar with but has knocked my confidence in using the watch on new courses I have never run before.

What website or program are you creating the routes in? Have you tried other routes or is it just this one? Have you tried re creating the route in Garmin Connect?

I create them I’m outdoor active, generally. I export the gpx to connect, save it and then send it to my watch. Thinking about it, when I create a route in OA it automatically appears sometimes in both Connect and on my watch without my further input

I havent seen this and been using courses for the last few weeks about 2-3 times a week. Is it appearing correctly in Connect? (Aside, I use PlotaRoute mind)

Oa may have a direct sync to Garmin if it is connected to Garmin Connect - I know PlotARoute Premium does

In Routing Settings for the trail run activity is it set to Follow Course?

It is appearing correctly in connect. It’s appearing properly on my watch / I can see the whole course plotted as a purple line. The problem being that after I start running, the purple line disappears, seemingly randomly, without warning.at some point whilst it’s in progress. And i can’t get it back.

Have you actually started the activity by pressing the start/stop button (after selecting "do course")? This might sound like a dumb question, but this has happened before.

It is a dumb question, but I’ve been known (occasionally) to do something dumb! I do press start. When I start the activity, the purple line displays correctly, shows the white directional arrows, updates as I progress, it even puts up with me when I deviate from the plotted course. But- the next time I look at my watch, and for reasons I haven’t yet determined - it disappears. Like I’d not started the course in the first place…
