Beta firmware question

So if you do not join the beta program you do not know if a beta is out. Now I heard that there is a 21.01 beta that is for users that have draining battery issues. If someone is in that case and is not in the beta program, they will not be able to use this beta to log their watch to see where the drain comes from. I think that kind of release should be made available to everybody. Like that users with draining issues can install it without having to join the program.

Betas are precisely to investigate issues and trial fixes. They are not for everyone. And that issue is not any different.

You are correct I guess. But if most of the users that have battery drain are not in the beta, nobody is going to test it as they are not aware.

There's currently no indication of a 21.01 beta over at Announcements - Fenix 6/Enduro/Tactix Delta/Quatix 6/Marq - Garmin Forums

I assume Garmin Support will provide users with the download link if they are contacted with battery issues. The logs are intended to be analysed by Garmin, not by the end users themselves. Sure some very experienced users can gain some information from the logs as well, but im general I am sure it will cause more confusion than anything else if this special beta would be pushed to all public beta testers.

I took the link for the 6S, but find that the watch ignore the update file when copied over to it. It's the first time I've tried to manually update the firmware since officially enrolling in the beta programme (have applied many betas previously using the manual method).

I'm interested in 21.01 as my watch is exhibiting high battery drain (as much as 20% in a day, for only 1hr of GPS activity).

Just downloaded it again (I already had the link for the 6s) and it worked second time round. Hopefully the battery logging info will prove useful to Garmin.
