No crash(Incident Detection) detection in mountainbike activities on v.21.00. On my Fenix 6 Pro

Hi,

I recognized that there is no crash(Incident Detection) anymore on my mountainbike activity. When I start a MTB activity the watch tellm me that the crash alert is not supported. In the previous version of the Fenix 6 Pro that worked fine.

In the mtb activity there is not Incident detection

Same here just to confirm and also no incident detection on Climb activity but Hiking does. Reported while ago.

Doesn´t make any sens to me, maybe garmin doesn't trust their gps

It seems it's not a bug, but a change in Incident Detection feature ...

There is an article french Facebook/Instagram post from a great blogger:

"Garmin a lancé une grosse vague de mises à jour cette semaine : Fenix 6/7, Enduro, Forerunner 245/745/945/945LTE, Epix, Instinct 2, Venu 2, MARQ, Vivomove 3.

La surprise c’est qu’une fonctionnalité a été retirée : la détection d’incidents à VTT (elle reste présente sur tous les autres profils à 2 roues).

Première réaction : qu’est-ce que c’est que cette histoire (en réalité j’ai du dire « c’est nul »), c’était un des rares profils où je l’avais activé (y a quand même bien des chances de se gaufrer à VTT). Puis, réflexion faite, c’est probablement qu’il devait y avoir plein de faux déclenchements de SOS, parce que ça secoue à VTT dans les descentes.

La morale de cette histoire : si des gens n’étaient pas satisfaits de cette option, ils auraient pu tout simplement la désactiver et me laisser m’en servir. Au lieu de ça, ils ont dû râler et Garmin l’a supprimée pour tout le monde."

It makes sense. Incident detection is most probably based on shocks/sudden unexpected movements. When you are riding your MTB on a rocky trail, the watch will think you are crashing constantly because your wrist will be shaking extensively. That's why it will work for cycling but not for mountain biking.
