Why does the Garmin Fenix 6 watch not have the option to delete a missed call notification that the user missed?!

I have long noticed the following possible bug either in the firmware of the Fenix 6 Pro Solar watch, or in the operation of the Garmin Connect application when notifications from a paired phone are working on the watch while working with incoming phone calls.
Step by step about the essence of the problem.
Suppose you receive an incoming call on the phone paired with the watch via the usual voice channel of the mobile operator, and you receive a notification of an incoming call on the watch screen with the ability to answer it with the watch buttons or reset the call at the time of the incoming call. You can also answer a call prepared in advance in the SMS settings without turning on the voice response.
If you managed to answer the call with the clock button, reset the call or answer with a template SMS, then there will be no further problem with the notification of this incoming call on the watch dial. But if you didn’t have time to do the above steps right at the moment an incoming call arrives on the paired phone, then then an unaccepted call “hangs” on your watch. You see a missed call notification in the notification widget or on the watch face screen, but you can't delete it manually. There is simply no such option on the clock! And such a "hanging" notification hangs for several minutes until it disappears spontaneously.
Owners of the specified watch model, please confirm or refute this behavior of the watch, and if you confirm this behavior of the watch, then tell us how you "get rid" of the described "hanging" notification?

  • I am not usually getting calls, yet alone miss one, so this only happened to me once, but I can confirm there seems to be no way to remove that notification. Mine even stuck in the "incoming call" state, so that I could wildly mash the "accept" "decline" and "send SMS" buttons, with no reaction. It even persisted after a restart, so I think it's coming from garmin connect and not the watch itself.

  • The owners of the Fenix 6 watch also confirmed this problem to me on one technical forum.
It's strange that Garmin releases watch firmware and updates for Garmin Connect so often, but still hasn't fixed this silly bug or oversight.

  • Are you using an Android or iOS phone?

  • i'm on Android 10 using the default 'Phone by Google' for voice calls. I don't seem to have this problem.

With the watch not recording an activity, for an incoming call the watch will display the screen with the options to accept the call, reject the call, or send an SMS to the caller. This screen stays on the watch until I either accept the call (I've never rejected a call or sent an SMS) or the caller terminates the call attempt. This is because I have App Notifications for 'Phone by Google' disabled in Settings > Notifications > App Notifications in Garmin Connect Mobile for Android.

If I have App Notifications for 'Phone by Google' enabled a screen will appear after the caller terminates the call attempt with a White Bar and Red 'X' by the Down key (which dismisses this screen immediately when pressed) and a White Bar by the Start key which gives a menu with options to Dismiss, Call back, or Message. (Dismiss and Call back work as I expect them too and I've never used Message).

For a missed call 'Phone by Google' will show a notification on the phone but there is no entry in the Notifications Widget on the watch.

  • I have the Fexix 6 connected to an iPhone 13 Pro, and have the same problem/issue; when receiving a call and miss the call, the Notification widged shows an "envelope" on the clock face, and when entering the Notification widget, I see the a notification of type "missed call" (red phone icon). I have no option to delete this notification, as I do have for a notification like an E-mail. With E-mail notifications, I can press the "triangle" button (the top right button on the watch) and read the E-mail and then press same button again to delete/empty the E-mail notification. The only option for a "missed call" notification is to do exactly the same, but then you don't have the "delete/empty" option - when pressing the "triangle" button my watch will make a call-back to the phone number that called you. This is okay if it is legitimate to make such call-back, but it is really a big problem when such missed call come from an un-identified number such as possible fraud attempt calls :-(.

    Garmin; please fix this ASAP!
