Best way to track Strength Training without tracking reps and sets?

I want to log that I did a strength training session (how long, how many calories burned) but I don't want to log reps and sets as I do that in a different app.

So I still want to select "Strength Training" on the watch, so that it registers as strength training (and not cardio or something else) in both Garmin and other places I sync to.

Is there a way to turn off the sets thing? I select "Free" under Strength Training, and lately what I've been doing is just hitting start so it goes to Set 1 and then leaving it there until I'm completely done with my workout. But not sure if there's a better way?

Thanks

  • I also do similar. In my case I don't even know in advance what sets will there be so I just use the LAP button to separate the sets (there's always a rest in between so pay attention, if you don't rest then you will need to press LAP twice). In many sets the watch automatically counts the reps (more or less correctly) in others it can't. Either way at the end I can change each rep (what type it was) if I still remember :)

I have no knowledge about how calories are counted and I don't care about calories, but I guess that it might be also based on the type of set, so if you don't set the actual sets' type it might be less accurate. If this is OK for you then either what I wrote with the lap button or even what you wrote (having 1 huge set to have the start/end time correctly) might work.
