How To Pay For a Downloaded Watch Face

I recently downloaded Glance Pro, and it is a "Payment Required" face.  Connect IQ Store never asked me for payment, but the watch face downloaded and installed, and some of the features aren't there and it is asking for an unlock code

Where/how in this process do you actually pay, and when you do, where/how do you get the unlock code?

Thanks,

  • Garmin doesn't run a Apple or Google Play app store. If you go back to the app and check the description, the dev will tell you how to pay them, typically through PayPal.

  • Sure enough, you are correct.  There was a lot of text on the page, and I didn't catch the payment instructions  Thank you.

  • Sorry...one more question on this.  Now that I have the unlock code, where do I enter it?  Do I have to download it again?  I don't recall it asking for an unlock code.  Sorry for the basic questions, this is my first watch face purchase, if you can't tell, LOL.

  • It's not a problem. If you goto the iq app store on your phone, as long as it connects to your watch, you'll go to that app in the store and go to settings to add the code.

  • I must officially be an idiot.  I have the IQ Mobile App on my phone, but I don't seem to be able to find the Glance Pro Watchface (or any Watchface for that matter), in the Connect settings on my phone.  Any ideas?  I have the Unlock Code from the developer, but I don't know where to enter it, LOL!

  • Ok, my watch is connected to the Connect App (the little light is Green, and it says "connected).  I have located the Watchfaces in Connect, but when I select Settings, for ANY of my Watchfaces, it is blank.  When I open the IQ Connect App, it says my watch is not connected.  WTF??  Bouncing around between apps like this is confusing, at a minimum, and clunky, really.  Why/how is the Connect App connected, but IQ Connect is not connected?

  • Ok, I just figured it out.  Turns out I had to go to yet a 3RD App (Not Garmin Connect, Not IQ Connect), but Garmin Express, on my computer, in order to see/change the settings for the Watchfaces.  This could certainly be user error/confusion, but all of these apps are clunky as hell.  Thanks very much for the help here.  Through the tips from Andrew, and a lot of fumbling around in the dark, I was able to get the lock code entered.

  • So how have you downloaded maps and firmware updates if you haven't had Garmin Express before?

  • That's a fair question.  I guess the answer is I have not.  I have only had the watch for a couple of months, and didn't really know I needed any updates.  And maybe it is just me, but I think the fact that you have to go to three different apps/sites (Connect, IQ Connect and Express), to perform various functions, is really sloppy design.  And every time I try to go to Express, it wants to revalidate my credentials.  So I have to login, and then it throws a couple errors every time, something about user unauthorized to update.  I assume that has something to do with another post I made, trying to delete some files.  I love the watch, but the app/web page interfaces are atrociously bad.

  • I just now connected to Express and during Sync, an error popped up and said "User doesn't have permission to update these files".  But there are no files listed!!!  Then, there is a "try again" button, and when I click that, or try to close the dialogue box, it says "we are having trouble trying to connect to your Connect account.  Please re-enter your credentials".  I log in (despite already being connect to Connect, and the whole cycle repeats itself.  Very clunky.  Not sure why it is doing that.
