Fenix 6 Series - 20.87 Public Beta

Hello Fenix 6 customers,

Our next beta version for the Fenix 6 series is now available!

Please email the Garmin Outdoor Quality Team if you find issues in software after installing this update: [email protected]

If you’ve participated in the Fenix 6 Beta Program previously, you’ll notice a few changes from how we have managed this in the past. And further down the line, we’ll have some additional improvements to the Beta Program (more on that later!) Notably, this forum post is now the primary resource for reading the change log notes – they are not available on another webpage. (There will be more options for viewing change logs after we implement the additional improvements to our beta program.)

The links to download the software update are listed below. Select the link specific to your watch model. Please note that your computer will download a .zip file when you open this link. This zip contains the software update, as well as a folder with the file necessary for backdating software, and instructions for this process if you choose to do so. Remember, backdating software will reset all settings.

Use these links to download the zip for your watch to update to version 20.87:

  • That's a very good question indeed. I have a "Rename" and a "Reset to defaults" at the end of the menu items for a workout, but not "Delete"

  • The false sleep report I posted about 14 hours ago has led to a stupidly long sleep reported this morning when I woke up about 8am today.

    Yesterday's false sleep

Note the start time of yesterday's false sleep (12:53PM) - the end time of the above false sleep has been replaced by this morning's wake time (8:05AM) and the device thought I was sleeping from 12:53PM yesterday until 8:05AM today

    Also reported on watch, pre-sync

This has also delayed my reported recovery time. due to the 'poor' sleep.

It has also been double counted here (false sleep is 4h52m on Thursday) and then counted again due today's (Friday's) being inflated by the above.

  • Hi.

Does anyone have the same problem? : During activity my watch indicates a very low HR. The problem is only during activity but at each time. If i put a HR pectoral strap (polar h10), there is no problem the hr is good but without ...the hr indicates is lower about 40 or 50 puls. It is a real problem. I can't use the watch HR. This problem arrived with the 20..85.

  • Roro,

I have never trusted the watch HR for an activity where HR is important.  Perhaps it works on some people's wrists- but never has been reliable on mine.  sometimes slow, sometimes high, sometimes picks up cadence.... and then, sometimes it works.  Works at rest pretty well.  I figure that's what it's there for.  Just always assumed that for an activity (running, cycling)- you need to wear a separate strap.  I've long since given up on this "feature".  YWMV (your wrist may vary)

  • Unsure if this is funny or tragic... however, surely the false detections need to be addressed and solved (though apparently don't happen this easy for anyone, possible that in your specific case - with your RHR and HRV which maybe are unusual and throw the device calculations out) - however, surely teh general algorithm MUST allow for more than one sleep period accounting in a single day, from the way it modifies things it looks it desperately tries to fit what it has into the "only one sleep period" rule, either by joining together 2 separate periods with a huge chunk of awake time, or getting rid of the previous one all together

  • Power saver bug still present and easily reproducible - video in link below

    drive.google.com/.../view

    To reproduce:

    1) Device should be in battery saver mode during your sleep hours

    2) Disable Battery Saver Mode via Power Manager / Battery Saver. Go back to watchface to confirm

    3) Start Activity

    4) Save activity

    5) After activity, device goes back to power save mode previously disabled in step 2

Expected behaviour: Device should respect user's battery saver settings

  • I have problems with playing Spotify on my vista 2s. Either the connection is dropped or the music becomes choppy and glitchy. Anyone else have problem with Spotify?
