Fenix 6 and Giant Ridesense

Hi, I’m looking for some help please.

I run a network when cycling of my Garmin Fenix 6 connected to Ridesense, my IPhone, Garmin Varia, a Coospo HR monitor and Garmin Tempe.

I used to have Cadence data from Ridesense showing on my rides on Garmin Connect (and Strava) but I noticed it has stopped recording.

I am suspecting that this occurred when I started using the Tempe but i can’t be sure. I will test that by riding my next ride with no Tempe but if that is the case then I’m dissapointed I can’t use them all together.

The Ridesense is functioning fine and bizarrely my Fenix even tells me ‘cadence’ is connected while network forming.

My firmware is also up to date.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks,

T

ps. I’m about as technically minded as a Labrador.

  • I'm not familiar with the Ridesense (but the reviews on the Giant site don't say much for its reliability).

According to this link the F6 can receive simultaneously from 8 ANT+ sensors and three Bluetooth. support.garmin.com/.../ so there is no reason why connecting the Tempe should affect the cadence connection. Are you using BT or ANT+ to connect to the cadence sensor?

  • Hi there, thanks for your help.

im sorry but I don’t know how it’s connecting. Is there a way I can find out or tell?

  • Have you tried replacing the battery in the RideSense? Mine eats them like they're going out of fashion, so much so that I bought a Garmin speed sensor instead. (Cadence comes from my power meter)

Other that that I've had no issue with Tempe and RS (which connects as ANT+ as default) plus power meter, Varia radar & HR strap.

To check how things are connecting go into Menu > Sensors & Accessories. Connect to teh sensor then to into its About menu. The connection method will be displayed in there.

  • Thanks.

yeah I changed the battery recently and the led’s are indicating as they should so I’m pretty confident that’s not the issue but to be sure I will give it a go. Thanks for the steer on connectivity, I’ll have a look and update the post. Cheers!
