Fenix 6 Series - 20.82 Public Beta

Hello Fenix 6 customers,

Our next beta version for the Fenix 6 series is now available!

Please email the Garmin Outdoor Quality Team if you find issues in software after installing this update: [email protected]

If you’ve participated in the Fenix 6 Beta Program previously, you’ll notice a few changes from how we have managed this in the past. And further down the line, we’ll have some additional improvements to the Beta Program (more on that later!) Notably, this forum post is now the primary resource for reading the change log notes – they are not available on another webpage. (There will be more options for viewing change logs after we implement the additional improvements to our beta program.)

The links to download the software update are listed below. Select the link specific to your watch model. Please note that your computer will download a .zip file when you open this link. This zip contains the software update, as well as a folder with the file necessary for backdating software, and instructions for this process if you choose to do so. Remember, backdating software will reset all settings.

Use these links to download the zip for your watch to update to version 20.82:

  • Read my posts above about this. I have the same issue I think.

  • Ok professor, i do it my way, you do it yours. Other than that i rest my case.

  • Something's surely changing, tonight i had one of those nights were the son awakes me in the middle... Tonight was about 3 to 4 am... I did look at the widget before going to sleep again and it had recorded sleep up to about 3 already... When this happened before the sleep tracking would not kick in again, but... This morning after waking again about 7.30... it updated! And showing sleep total from about 10.30pm to 7.30am, with an awake period in between of about an hour, correctly positioned.

This did not happen in previous experience ,the sleep tracking widget and of course also connect would show only the first recorded period. This is surely an improvement (though at moment based on one time experience)

  • The enhanced Strength activity is great !!!

  • When you have a rest, do you have a timer running or is it static?

I hate to bring this up after all the months long discussions about the altimeter.. I had no issues with beta 20.51 and auto cal. set to on; it used to remain stable during the night, but with 20.82 it changes lots during the night. It has no phone connection or wifi during the nights. A Fenix 5 Plus here used in the same way, remains stable. How is that working for you?

  • It's beta post, so you can discuss about all issue or strange behaviour here.

Bu the best should be to contact Beta team or Support depending on which system version running.

No problem for me on F6Pro, during activities (trail) or outside

Altimeter has rarely been correct for me since the controversial changes - right now indoors it's reporting 172 feet when it should be higher. Honestly, I've given up reporting problems as Garmin have clearly given up trying to fix them!

  • Bug report with screenshots sent to 20.82 beta devs - issue of random instant increase in heart rate during activity. Never seen before on 6X Pro. Two manual heart rate tests conducted in parallel suggests bug

  • Pretty ok. I went to bed at 38 meters probably after training and shower (the hot water temperature normally lowers the altitude by 20 meters even!) this morning it is back to 56 meters. That's OK at my home. No connection with my phone nor WiFi overnight.
