TopoActive Australia and New Zealand 2021.20 - error installing update (on Fenix 6X Sapphire)

Hi All,

Has anyone experienced an issue updating the map: TopoActive Australia and New Zealand 2021.20 on the Fenix 6 (or 7) watch?

I tried updating a couple of days ago and it failed, removing the dataset entirely from my Fenix 6X Sapphire.  Strangely, all other datasets (except Europe), were successfully updated, which isn't very useful because I live in Australia.

I tried updating using the latest version of Garmin Express on my MacBook Pro (M1) and my Windows 10 Notebook - same issue, consistent.

I restored the watch to factory settings (which is a pain as I have to customise my screens again), no luck.

I even updated to the latest beta version 20.51, still no dice.

I'd love some advice because I'm at my wits' end.

  • Did you have any luck with this? I have the same problem and the map has disappeared from my phone. Is anyone able to help. It has now become a very expensive Fitbit for me.

  • Hey Neville, the issue is sitting with the Garmin tech team.  They requested lots of data from me such as a copy of all folders and data from my Fenix, versions of my watch, PC, Garmin Express etc.  They're doing a deep dive into the issue.  All the other maps work for me (e.g. Ski map, Africa, America etc) except for the one I need (Australia New Zealand) - I'm convinced that the 'TopoActive Australia & New Zealand 2021.20' IMG file is simply corrupt. However we'll have to wait and see...

  • Thanks for that. Things have just gone backwards for me today. First Australia failed to update. Then I found it was gone. I now have W maps available. North Africa and ski. Now I can no longer connect to my computer. I will try support on Monday and hope for an answer. Thanks again for the update.
