My Fenix 6 stops charging at around 95%

Hi to all,

my Fenix 6 Sapphire recently stops charging by itself when at around 90-95%, cable is well connected and I leave it alone on the desk so no movements or else.

I use both a power bank and my laptop, same issue. I'll clean again the pins but I doubt it is due to that.

I could manually disconnect and reconnect to get some %s more but I doubt now it is due to some sort of "protection" ? Can it be ?

It's 8 months old and apparently when charged it discharges well, no problem with the battery whatsoever, it lasts good 10 to 14 days.

Is there anybody else with the same issue ?

I've seen something like that with older Fenix'es. One possibility is the internal battery gauge has lost track a bit of what's full and what's empty, explanation here. I don't recommend draining the battery fully to reset that logic; you could instead do a reset to factory defaults, that resets the battery gauge statistics and then it 'learns' again. It will take a while to get back on track.

In general it is better to cycle batteries between 85 and 25 percent, as described here instead of charging to 100%.

Although I am not sure if the reported percentage while charging corresponds to the actual charge (perhaps the reported 100% is in reality 85%, to prolong battery life).

See what happens when connected to a wall psu. At around 95% the Fenix drops its current pull for charging and this may be forcing the power bank (which was reported by someone else here) and laptop to see it as a 'charge full" sign.

Great ! Good catch indeed. Since it was happening with my laptop as well I thought the root cause could be something else. I'm often on the move and normally charge it via power bank or laptop. I'll try with a normal charger....Thanks!

It happens with Powerbanks.
If you want to get back to 100% use a wall charger or a computer.

There is no real issue. I use Powerbanks all the time.

That's OK, I'm used not to reach 100% when possible (and charge when min 15 left) anyhow I was just curious and wondering why. I fully understand the logic now.
