Garmin Fenix 6 not working; gets stuck during startup, only shows the "garmin arrow" sign which flashes briefly from time to time.

I've had this watch for almost a year.

This morning I noticed that it wasn't refreshing the weather anymore, so I attempted to reboot it.

It could not boot anymore; instead, during start-up, it gets stuck displaying the "Garmin arrow" sign, and that sign briefly flashes from time to time.

I tried some of the suggested fixes: holding down buttons, starting it up and releasing buttons (btw, there's not such thing as a "beep" happening). Nothing helped.

Can anybody help me out ?

And where is the "online chat" on the support site ?

Thank you.

  • What version software are you using. This issue was a year ago on version 20.50 and they are at version 26.0 now.

link to computer by cable and search for Garmin Webupdater. Install it and see if your Fenix syncs to Webupdater. While connected to computer use Garmin Express and sync again. Disconnect and see if it starts and install any suggested Fenix 6 updates.
now, connect to computer again and sync Express again. Disconnect Fenix and install any more updates.

if that doesn’t work you may need to reset. Hold down Light button until it powers off. Now while holding Light, Start and Back buttons depressed when you hear beep release Start and on 2nd beep release Back. That will give option to reset.

  • I found one more suggestion from some ticker guy about a similar thing in beta that might help. I copied text back then

HOW TO FIX WITHOUT A HARD RESET -- This worked for me, other than battery which I don't know yet.

Go into ConnectIQ on your PHONE after going into CONNECT and making sure the watch is connected.  UNINSTALL both the all your ConnectIQ watch faces and the battery widget from your apps.  IT WILL STILL SHOW an "uninstall" button once you do it.  Do it AGAIN (in other words, do an "uninstall" even though you think you already did.)

Go back to the connect app on your phone and SYNC so what you did gets pushed.

    Power-cycle the watch.

If it hangs on the "loading maps", hold BACK until it comes back to the watch.

    Now power cycle AGAIN.

    It SHOULD come up normally.

You can re-add the watch face and it will be ok and, if you plug in the watch it SHOULD be found on the USB interface as a storage device.
