fenix 6x failed completely

this is my fenix 6x ! after 2 years  right after 20.50 update and not work at all. no one can help me in garmin support .

  • Oh that looks bad. Only thing you can try is a hard reset.

    1. Turn off your Garmin watch**

    2. Press and hold the down, start, and back buttons

    3. Power on your Garmin watch while holding these buttons

    4. After the first beep release the start button

    5. After the second beep release the remaining buttons

The watch should now be reset.

**If your Garmin watch will not power off, press and hold Light until the screen goes blank. This causes the device to power off and should only be used when a normal power down is not possible.

Go to the website and get chat support - that's the quickest way to get this issue looked at officially - although there are Garmin people here, it's largely fellow users

  • i have done this several time  but non of reset metods have worked

  • Ok. Then I am afraid you need to ask Garmin for a replacement. I hope you are still within your warranty.

  • I have the same problem, documented it here: https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-6-series/288712/garmin-fenix-6-not-working-gets-stuck-during-startup-only-shows-the-garmin-arrow-sign-which-flashes-briefly-from-time-to-time

I was on the phone with the support line, they asked me to send the watch and they will replace it with a "new or refurbished" one.

I asked to get a voucher as refund, I would've used it to buy another Garmin watch (so no loss for them), but they explained this isn't possible; disappointing...

  • I got my replacement the next day.  It looks new - If its refurbished, they did a nice job.  It came packaged in a new box and it looks brand new.  Buttons are clicky and bezel and screen are unmarked.

I set up up and for the fun of it, updated it to 20.50.  So far, the watch seems ok.  Battery seems to be holding - and I've been "clicking around a lot more than normal".  I have not done any activities yet, but I did a GPS SOAK and GPS/GLONASS locked on quickly...it literally sat in my backyard for 30 minutes and the recording showed slight drift, which has always happened to me.

Keep in mind that I use this watch as a "dumb" watch these days - as I cant do many "activities".  I dont even have bluetooth active.
At a full charge I batt says 30 days - same as my old).  TOday almost 20 hours in since last charge im at 98%.  I expect a slight drop today while the percentage catches up.  but normally by now, 20 hours in Id be at 25 days (from 30).

  • I just saw that Garmin is releasing 20.60 and addresses:

    Change Log

Added prompt to reboot if GPS is unresponsive.
Fixed an intermittent issue where the device would continue to power cycle repeatedly.

I, as well as the OP had the same issues.  Garmin replaced my watch and charged me approx $200USD.

I'm now convinced that 20.50 broke my original watch - as my watch on 20.50 would freeze..and I'd have to reboot.  Finally after a few days, and after a Garmin Express PC sync - the watch went into an unrecoverable reboot loop.

I do not think that it is appropriate that a FW update they pushed caused symptoms that this new 20.60 FW specifically addresses.  Looks like I have a few emails to write.

  • Same this issue, and your way not working !!
