Fenix 6 band comes off

I had just been presented with a Fenix 6X for my birthday in Nov 2021. I loved it and it was awesome as I trained for my Ironman and used it practically for all my sporting activities. Running, Biking, Swiming, Mtn. Biking, Surfing. Last weekend I lost my watch while surfing. The only reason i can see why it came off my wrist must be because of the clip on exchangeable bands. Has something like this reported before?

  • Hi, I almost lost mine a couple of times (5X). Don't really trust the quickfit bands. I keep using them on daily base, general use and running. But skiing or some other activities I swap for the fixed ones.

I reckon people don't report, but I think when bands have some use, start to unclip easily.

  • A climber, caver,Skier(and more) here never had an issue them coming off... And I have 12 bands... May be is an issue with that specific band, Try getting a new one and see what happens,

Also post this in the actual fenix 6 forum as this is the 5 one

  • I have never experienced this issue in 5 years of owning Fenixes, admittedly all my straps are third party quickfit straps (1 steel bracelet & 6 silicone bands).

  • Hi, thanks for the feedback/reply.

Could be just my fault for not keeping them tight enough on my wrist or should have the 5 instead, being a bit smaller. Never thought about it, love the size of 5X, but maybe to big for my wrist size, forcing the click to be in a slight wrong position.

But it's not a big occurring problem, it happen only a few times and always when the bracelet was caught by something, which force it to come off.

Wish you all a good day.

  • A thought occurs in that on some of my straps I have to make sure that the clasp that holds it to the watch is fully closed. Some of them do not fully close under their own and I always make sure I have pushed them closed.

  • I'm thinking as you lost the watch there is no way of knowing what actually gave way. When I moved to the fenix 6 from the 3, 5 and 5 Pro, I was surprised to find that Garmin had moved away from the pin that was screwed on through the body of the watch with torxhead screws. The fenix 6 has the spring loaded pin, like many other watches, but in my opinion this is a potential week link for a sports watch. I wonder why they changed the design?

  • Mine came off today in swim squad training when I hit the lane ropes. Now I'm scared about wearing in the surf. Has anyone replaced the band with a fixed type?

  • i replaced the quickfit band with a cheap nylon band. Is much more comfortable to wear and does not fall off.

  • It has happened to me twice with the Fenix S6. I think the silicone just expands and the watch moves around to much. I don’t want to spend $70 on the same band as it will probably happen again.

  • I lost mine 6X Pro Solar first time using this past sunday, literally within 3 minutes of leaving the dock, without any speed, crash, or anything that with me cranking it  in tight and going thru both loops,  i can only imagine the only possibility is defective quickband attachment point.  Garmin did  agree to send a replacement for about $200, the problem is that this type of loss isnt covered by Garmin or Asurion. The other is worrying about it happening, again, thinking of gettting separate bracelet and perhaps run 50lb fishing line between pin and casing and tying it to that as a lanyard. Also, still thinking of renting scuba gear to try and find... Nagging feeling of losing such expense watch that soon is driving me nuts....
