stop second hand on analogue watchface ffrom turning off after 30 seconds.

I just noticed on my Fenix 6x Sapphire that the second hand turns off after 30 seconds on the default watch faces. I always liked that the default watchfaces had the second hand stay on, unlike the custom developer ones from the iq store. IS this a new change from firmware update? I would prefer the option to keep it on regardless of battery drainage. I don't believe my old forerunner watch had this issue, and I could of sworn when I first got the fenix it didn't have this issue either.

I can't seem to find an option for this anywhere?

It is meant to turn off the second hand as its a battery saver. As soon as you move the watch to look at it, the second hand will reappear.

I don't remember it doing it on my forerunner245. It was something that used to only be possible with the stock watchfaces and I considered it a feature. And it only recently became possible with developer watch races with iq 3.2 I believe. Again, I consider it a feature and its a reason why people pay money to some of these analog watch face developers. I consider this a downgrade. IF Garmin wants it to tout longer battery they can turn it off by default, but at least give us the option to turn it on. I'm extremely disappointed with this decision.

Can’t speak for the 245, but yes it is true that the F6 has always hidden the second hand if it is completely still for long enough.

it shouldn't imo. Its what made garmin special to the competitors imo. And its what makes it look like a real watch to others looking at your wrist. Also sometimes one wants to just use the second hand to time things and it can be real annoying when it shuts off after 15 or 30 seconds. And I notice now all the analog watch faces that use to be free. Are now paid, like time flies for example. Probably because now they know they are the few offering always on second hands. interesting. lol.

As soon as you move the watch the second hand appears, I don't see the problem. Are you going to put the watch down somewhere and just look at the face without moving the watch for more the 30 seconds ?.

You wear the watch, you look at the face and the second hand is always there.

Storm in a teacup.

I agree it could be an option, from a S/W point of view its less than trivial.

did you read what I posted? When people look at your watch and see the second hand moving it looks real and impressive. Also what if I want to count down a minute or more without fumbling around tor the stop watch or timer? It was something that used to be discussed on these forums because people wanted the option for developer watch races. But it was never possible until the software was finally updated to allow it. It use to only be possible on the stock analog faces. Now it seems the complete opposite is true lol. Poor decision imo unless it was a move to get the watchface developers some donations and attract more of them. Seems strange.

In fact its one reason people like the transflective display over the amoled. For an always on second hand as well as the always on display. This is quite an ignorant oversight by garmin imo.

Your circle of friends/workmates are a lot different to mine.

For what it's worth, I'm glad they made this decision. I'll happily take battery life over worrying about what some bonehead next to me who might be "looking at my watch" thinks.

Anyway, the F7 is relased now. Someone looking at my watch is going to think "Look at that poor bloke, he can't even afford the latest watch, what a sad case"
