What is the limit on how many activities I can keep on my Connect Connect account?

I delete activities from my watch after syncing, but should I also purge them from Connect IQ? I did delete a bunch of them done earlier. Just wondering what the storage limit is.

It appears that my health stats are retained after deleting the activities, which I like. Is there a limit on keeping those?

  • I've had my 2 Garmin watches for ~4 years or so I guess, I've never deleted a thing - I usually do 2 bike rides a day (to/from work) and maybe a run or walk as well.  Probably ~20 activities a week.

Why do you think you have to delete anything?

I have heard of problems if you have heaps and heaps and heaps of activities on the watch, that it can need to be deleted.  But I'm not aware of any limit to Garmin's cloud storage.

  • I have thousands of activities on Garmin Connect going back to 2008. On the watch is different. Although older activities should be automatically purged to make way for new ones I still periodically clear my Activities folder.

  • Thanks! I asked because I hadn't seen anything about storage limits in the owner's manual or in Garmin Connect.

I only want the activities on my watch for about a week at a time, but it's great to be able to leave them on the website for longterm fitness tracking.

  • Same - stuff going back to 2017. Never delete anything from Connect or the watch, never needed to.

  • On the watch is different. Although older activities should be automatically purged to make way for new ones I still periodically clear my Activities folder.

I wish there was a clear description for all types of Garmin watches and non-wearables which would clearly say whether your device is impacted  by an auto purge/erase. If so what the time limit in case of these old activities.

My habit is clear for my 6X:

at least once a month I plug 6X to my laptop and move the activity files from 6X to the laptop with the help of a powershell batch file. I do it, because I want to keep files in case cloud was going down, moreover I import these files to a PC-based software.

I could copy the files instead of moving, but first I dont care with the activity summary, which is deleted in case of the .fit file move, and on the other hand moving them means that never in life I will reach any not-known limits regarding max pieces of files.

I proposed the same to my wife (Venu 2s), and told her maybe plugging her watch and running the batch of file moving once a year will be safe enough. :-)

But she also uses 2 910XT as secondary displays on a bicycle and on a winter coat, and these old watches have limited storage. As I remember in case of riding with sensors the memory is full after appr.  35  hours.

910XT has an option to delete activities older than once month, and it is a manual solution, and not an auto delete.

The old ANT Agent had an option to auto erase the files that had been downloaded to PC and uploaded to GC. Garmin Express does not have this option, but was designed to uninstall ANT Agent automatically when GE enforces its update.

Back to my wish: If there were known rules of auto delete old files for Venu 2s, Fenixes etc than one can be sure that none of the devices erase anything in the background at any time.
