Strava app not syncing route maps

When I plan a route on Strava and sync with the USB I get the map but when I sync the route using the app on my phone the map doesn't appear. Anyone else had this problem and found a fix?

I just saved a route in Strava using the Strava App. Made sure the route was "starred". Waited a few seconds then opened Garmin Connect app and waited until the sync was complete. Course was then available and correct on the watch.

Yeah this is what I'm trying to do but when I go to the map on the watch it's blank and when on the run the route isn't available. Doesn't happen when I transfer from a PC but be good to use the phone app.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm using an Android phone.
