We know this post states it is a public release candidate, yet the URL states it's a beta.  This is simply a method of delivery for public beta.  We use the same channel and therefore the 'beta' term follows each of these links.  We only note it is a public release candidate so that you are aware it's the proposed version to go live to the public.

I agree Giannex, it is a good idea from garmin. I think garmin should go open source. Many problems would be solved within days. However, the fact that you cannot make a backup and restore it is a waste of time. This is my main watch apart from my G-shock solar. By the time i testing beta firmware i losing my watch and time  for the time for the flashing, setting finding out that features broken [again] going back to older fw. this just not feasible. Perhaps for ppl who has two or three fenix 6 can play around. I dont think even fenix 7 series would be much different, and would not be surprised if they were using the same chipset, even less surprised if they just using the same mainboard branding it as "fenix 7". LOL

How about the ability to actually delete the apps we don't want to see or use at all. Golf means nothing to me, water sports and sailing also, why we must have them wasting storage? Really wish for a firmware editor from them. I climb, i gym, I fight and train, and rolled-blade.

The Golf activity profile, like all other activity profiles, occupies 4 KB of memory on a 32 GB watch.

Fenix 6 Solar does not have a 32 GB storage. I don't need the pro, because i don't use my watch as a storage device.

Okay, I'm correcting myself. The Golf activity profile occupies 4KB of memory on a 64MB watch.

  • Garmin, please return altimeter autocalibration OFF.  And please remove calibration request before starting activity. It's very uncomfortable press several buttons instead of just press start.

  • Autocalibration before activity can be toggled off. Personally, its perfect for me. Perhaps remove it as a default, but I for one certainly dont want it removed entirely. Its a great sanity check. Besides its one extra keypress to bypass it when it is on.

Plus, I would never pay more than £2-300 for a time keeping device. Still don't matter, i don't want to see it even in the menu. Even if i have to dump the rom ... but will see.  A logic analyser and a bus pirate could do magic in the right hands, Slight smile all the test points and ICSP ports are there.

  • Autocalibration before activity can be toggled off.

Really ? Even if I turn it off, the watch does not keep the previously set elevation. As soon as a GPS signal is received, it adjusts to the GPS elevation.

  • The options apparently are

    "

    • Update the altimeter’s auto calibration to be either be “On” or “Nightly”. Setting to “On” will set the device to periodically calibrate altitude throughout the day. Setting to “Nightly” will set the device to calibrate altitude at night and before the start of an activity."

So switching it to on gets rid of the prompt before an activity start. The OP wanted to get rid of the extra keypress at activity start.
