Total distance travelled by foot

Hey Team,

New to Garmin after using a Fitbit for years. On my Fitbit it gives me the option to see the total distance ive travelled in a day by foot on my home screen.

I can't find anything similar on the Garmin, it only gives me the total for my run as an option to display, any suggestions?

Kindly

  • You can add it as a datafield on the default watchfaces, or you can find it in the "My Day" widget (open the Steps section, then scroll to the last page). I haven't found a way to see it in the Connect app, though.

  • But keep in mind the total distance is a just guesstimate based on the number of steps and the preconfigured stride length. If the stride length isn't configured I guess the watch derives that from your height. The watch doesn't actually measure the distance outside of an activity with GPS enabled.

  • Okay I'm trying that

    Menu > Watch Faces > Customise > Data > ??? ( I can't find the value for it)

In fact, total distance covered is almost certainly highly misleading. While people often have a consistent stride length when walking briskly outdoors, stride length gets shortened considerably when indoors, stop/start steps, etc. Total steps x (outside) stride length does not equal actual distance covered.
