Add external activty to garmin watch? (Garmin cannect faild to do it)

I am not able to add an activity recorded out oof garmin (i.e. kinomap app). I can successfullt export a tcx file and inport in Garmin Connect.

So, eventually, I can see the activity along with all the history of activities, and accounts for totals, etc.

Then, it is ok, and from Garmin Connect, select the activity and choose to 'Send to device'. Once synchronized, I would expect to see the activity as my last activity, as well as the calories added, it should affect to my health state, etc

But no, the activity does not exist in the watch. However, it is seen as a 'Course', or Route, for activityes like Walk, Run, etc.

I have tried many ways, without success: coying the file to NewFiles directory in the watch (but it understands it as a course/route, not as an activity done by me); also, copying it directly to Activities directory with no effect,....

I have tried with different formats: GPX, TCX and FIT....

So, no way.

It seems difficult to understand, if not a bug, that the activity can be imported correctly into Garmin connect and, however, it cannot be sent/synchronized with the watch (meaning that garmin connect and the watch are measuring/managing different activity data)

Any ideas? is there a more straightforward way? thanks a lot

Well you can copy a FIT file to the watch through USB and it will show up in the activities history. But the watch won't use it to update your health and fitness metrics. That's just not how it works.…

Garmin already did a few third party apps integration which also update training status. But sad for you, no kinomap (yet)

If it doesn't show up in activities history then the FIT file must be defective or missing some key data. You can try the Fit File Repair Tool. But really it would be easier to just record the activity…

I have already tried that, as I have said: copying the file (USB connected) to NewFiles directory, also to Activities directory....

It is not recognized at all. Maybe the original activity file coming from kinomap is not correct, but it would be strange. I have converted from tcx to fit

I've never been convinced that Garmin Connect Interweb or mobile has ever able to successfully transfer activity files to a watch but I have heard that some people have had success. I'm not one of them though. However an activity can be converted to a course and transferred or activity data can be synced between compatible devices using PhysioTrueup. If you can upload the file to Garmin Connect then you could try one of the options in this screenshot (access the options by clicking on the small cog) and try to put that file on the watch.

Thanks! I will try the repair tool. Of course, it would be easier to record the activity directly on the watch, but Garmin is not the only tool to do that: many oothers can offer better features (kinomap has a big database of realtime recorded videos for biking and running).

I would consider my watch is able to integrate any source of activities (as long as they record within some standards); so, why do I want the general health state, training measures, etc in the watch if it is telling me that I am out of shape although I am running a lot?

Very interesting article. It seems clear. Garmin does not allow other than those four apps to synchronize and modify the training load. Thanks
