  • I'd never heard that before. what a shame.

maybe because I don't want that data field on my watch face?

Jeff's explained one possible cause of drift, and outlined some steps users can take in case it affects them. This is also a BETA. and so expect behaviours not quite the same as a release firmware. These are steps for people to take if they are affected by the problem in question.

If you're not getting a drift in altitude, knock yourself out and use the widget as much as you want. If you do get a drift, and elevation is important to you then add an elevation datafield - examine the behaviour and report it to the beta team.

But you're here now complaining about something that if you hadn't read would have probably been a complete non--issue to you and probably would never have affected you.

How terrible is it that you MAY, whilst testing a beta, need to temporarily add an extra datafield to the watchface? Seriously.

  • The ABC widget shows graphs, the watch face data fields doesnt. I have the ABC widget in my scrolling list so i have often scrolled to it and looked at it but that have not made this kind of differences before. After Jeffs information i havent looked at the ABC widget so i cant look at it or show the barometer graph. Something is still fishy. After my manual calibration with DEM (to 62 meters) the altitude have slowly increased over time. Now its 36 meters off (58%). Will wait some more and see what happens.

So, something have changed for me. Its not the same as before. Independent of what Jeff writes.

  • One of the stock analog and digital watchface do offer a four hour graph of either altitude or barometer.

As a thought Anders, is your barometer showing a similar or opposite tend to the altimeter drift?

  • I think its about the graphs, for me it is.

  • These are the two stock WF's with alt/baro graphs

  • I havent looked at the barometer graph since i did the altitude calibration with DEM and will not do it now either. My watch face doesnt have altitude or barometic graphs so i will have to wait.  Maybe i open the graphs tomorrow. Its a pity that we cant choose a 48 hour graph for altitude as we can do with the barometer.

  • May be worth seeing if going to the widget reverses or stops the drift. That behaviour would be worth reporting...

  • Considering the altimeter works from the barometer and the internal temp sensor, May be worth seeing if either is misbehaving. As it uses the temp sensor to help calibrate if either is misbehaving that could explain the drift if, and I repeat IF it's a hw issue rather than a sw one. Do you have the temp widget installed as that offers Graph I think??

  • Yes, a good point. Thats the reason im waiting. But its hard to compare graphs when the time scales is different for altitude and barometer. If im remembering right (cant look at it right now) the altimeter graph is always 4 hours and barometer is 6/12/24/48 hours (by setting).  So its a little problematic to compare. Kt would be great if the scale optipns was the same.

  • Agreed the scale differential is confusing....
