Buy 6x on sale now, or wait for Fenix 7?

Hey

I have been waiting for the Fenix 7 for a year. And with nothing but rumours about the release of Fenix 7, I’m starting to think about buying the fenix 6x shaphire now instead. I’ve seen that it is some good sales on it now..

What do you guys think? Can we expect that the Fenix 7 will be released in the nearest future? Or should I just by the Fenix 6x on sale?

Personally (and I'm sure I've mentioned this more than a few times in past threads) I'm totally fine with Fenix having a touchscreen, as long as its usage is optional, not mandatory; as long as the 5 buttons…

The Quatix 6 is essentially a 6 Pro with a silver bezel.

That's true, it looks great. But again that price difference.. And I would probably have felt compelled to buy a boat to go with it, and a boat trailer, etc.. Sorry, straying way too far from topic here!

Yeah, I hope that they wouldn't differentiate more advanced watch by color as aesthetically I like regular 6 more but have to go with black 6Pro just for maps.

The news I've heard is the Fenix will stay transflective but the Epix name is resurrected for an AMOLED watch.. I can live with that as long as I can get a transflective one

Epix brand is cursed. I still own epix and it was better watch than fenix 3 but software was always behind and suddenly abandoned. I hope they would not repeat this.

Epix was a long time ago. I forget when exactly, 8 years ago or so? I'm guessing the Epix "team" hasn't just been sitting around for the last 8 years waiting for a new Epix to come out so they can start working again.

Name means nothing. It will almost certainly be exactly the same team working on it as the Fenix.

Yeah, I still have an Epix (got it 2015 or so - it is laying in a drawer - but somtimes I still use it). Wasn´t it Garmin first wearable with real mapping and (map) navigation (as far as I remember)? The Epix was a new generation in wearables and a trendsetter. Was the basis for the development of the F5 series. So maybe this naming for a new device would be a good omen...Only Garmin knows.

As far as I remember it was - there were very basic maps on Fenix and Fenix 2, and you could upload your own maps on a Fenix (2), but they had no real navigation using maps. Then Fenix 3 came, it was super awesome, but it had no maps at all. At about the same time Epix came out, with color and maps and a touchscreen that failed in the rain, It didn't catch on all that much, it was big, very expensive and got no real support. As if no-one was working on it. Used Epixes were quite cheap so I got me one. Years later a surprise update (3.something - imagine that, we're at 20.01 here) made it possible to switch off the touchscreen. I used it for a very long time, for every hike, day-trip, vacation and trail run. Hardly used the touchscreen, but very much appreciated the (then) large rectangular screen for the map. I would not mind re-using the Epix name!
