Can't connect via USB on MacOS

I am unable to connect to my Garmin Fenix 6S Pro via USB with MacOS. I'm using MacOS Monterey 12.0.1 and my Garmin has 19.20.

I don't have the option for USB Storage as there used to be. I have MTP and "Garmin".

I have downloaded and installed Android File Transfer to try and access it via MTP, but I'm simply getting "No Android Device Found - please connect...".

I want to simply view the device in Finder so that I can transfer a .FIT file, but can't see any way to do this?

This is not possible. You have to use a software like AFT.

Note, I can see it in Garmin Express and it will sync that way. I've tried AFT with Express on and off, no dice with either.

Garmin Express must be COMPLETELY CLOSED (including background process) to use AFT.

I've had no issues using Android File Transfer with all my 6 series watches (I had a Marq, 6X Pro Solar and now a Tactix Delta). I've used ATF on a range of Macs including an Intel MacBook Pro, Intel Mac mini, M1 Mac mini, and now an M1 Max MacBook Pro and had zero issues with any of them. I have tested on every developer beta and public release. Currently on Monterey 12.1 Beta 3.

I am using a USB-C to USB-A adapter with the Garmin cable.
