We know this post states it is a public release candidate, yet the URL states it's a beta.  This is simply a method of delivery for public beta.  We use the same channel and therefore the 'beta' term follows each of these links.  We only note it is a public release candidate so that you are aware it's the proposed version to go live to the public.

  • I'm still on 19.20 and 9m drift can happen during the night depending on weather changes. Settings (as of 19.20) is to calibrate at start of activity and Not during activity is set to on which will calibrate at night according to the phone's position if I remember correctly. Most of the time the altitude is still correct when I wake up but sometimes there are large drifts with 19.20 as well.

  • It does fail (the auto calibration at night when you don't have Wifi or a phone connected), I tried it. Which is good! I only see drift based on ambient air pressure during the day and night.

Out of curiosity, if I ever have excess free time I'll keep the phone on and connected to a laptop overnight, and check the logging later to see what API calls Garmin Connect does during the night.

  • f anyone uses the hunt&fish widget (by Garmin) with version 20.00, could you check if it works indoors, i.e. doesn't display "Waiting for GPS signal" most of the time?

Tried it myself.- It still displays "Waiting for GPS signal".

Darn, the whole reason I put 20.00 on the watch was because this widget not working as before, that annoyed me. I sortof use Hunt&Fish for wildlife/bird spotting (and no, I'm not actually a cat)

  • That is a change of a little over 1 millibar. That is probably weather. I see that as well. Before 19.74 (I think) the altitude remained the same despite ambient pressure changes, as long as the watch 'thought' you were sitting or moving around indoors. AFAIK it's been that way since the Fenix 3. Problem with that principle is, you can get large deviations over a couple of days, if you don't do an outdoor activity every day (with calibration before or during that). Maybe - guessing -  they added auto-calibration overnight to make it better for people who use the Fenix less often outdoors.

What I don't like about auto-calibration overnight based on location, is that it never results in a correct value if you live in a high building. Also, in my case, with 19.78, it calibrated overnight to widely different incorrect altitudes, almost as if it there was no altitude information on my location.

  • When I try to edit data fields of HIIT activity, the watch freezes and I havre to restart it. The first time I just installed it worked, then I tried it and now it freezes.

    I come directly from 19.20

    • Added HRV Support from chest strap for Yoga and breathwork... Someone knows how it works? I don't see any difference
  • Have you switched on log HRV under physiometric settings on the watch?

  • Yes. I test it with hrm-pro and Polar H10, no difference for me in GC or watch

  • Have you got a Runalyze account - its mostly for running, but it does show a lot of the "underlying" data from Garmin stuff if synced up. I have, I'll do a breathwork activity with my HRMRun tonight and see if Runalyze shows anything different from pre 20.00 breathwork activities

  • I am still seeing ANT+ dropouts with an external HR sensor with this version. More bugs that will take an age (if ever to fix), but at least we now have the Pickleball activity.
