Seems to be the day of asking questions :)

Does anyone know if its possible to enable/disable phone notifications by app on an iPhone to the Fenix 6?

Essentially what I want to do is:

- Have notifications from Signal/Telegram/banks/paypal etc on the watch

- Not have notifications from Teams/Zoom etc on the watch

- Not affect the phone notifications (i.e. notifications that are displayed on the phone)

To a degree, you can configure what APPS push notifications to your watch. However, iOS is not as flexible as Google Android.

In Garmin connect apk, settings/notifications/app notifications. For Android at least..

Cheers, it looks like the iOS/iPhone version is missing those settings

iPhone doesn't allow it. You only get nothing, all, or only calls.

Apple does allow developers to implement notification settings in the applications but it's mind-boggling why Garmin does not implement this on iOS.

For example, I have a Fossil watch and within the Fossil Hybrid app, I can disable/enable particular app notifications (e.g. disable Outlook notifications going to my watch but enable Gmail and text message notifications). And I can do all of this in the Fossil app. Friends with a COROS say you can do this in the COROS app as well. Why can't we do this in the Garmin app? I am sure Garmin has amazing developers but it is really puzzling why they don't implement this.

It is pretty mad as they've done it for Android. My other non Garmin devices also work in this manner with my iPhone :-(

Thanks for the reply, Chris. Do you know why we can’t control app notifications in the Garmin Connect app for iOS like you can in Android? I would understand if Apple limits developers. However, this is not the case because other companies like Fossil and COROS have this functionality built into their iOS applications.

I was unable to confirm that either Fossil or COROS allows iOS iPhone owner's to send quick message responses back from their watches after the iPhone pushed a text message to the watch. It is not mentioned anywhere on their Support webpages and does not search anywhere tried.

It has always been my understanding it is due to Apple iOS limitations since Apple very tightly controls iOS for security and reliability purposes etc.

Since the quick response option to reply with a custom message is a feature in our Android Connect Mobile APP, there is no reason why we would limit the same functionality for our iPhone customers.

In the Garmin Connect app on Android, you can do this by going to Settings -> Notifications -> App notifications. However, you can't do that in the Garmin Connect iOS app, as shown in this Garmin Q&A. Since Garmin Connect has this feature in Android, why not have it in iOS? It would be great to have this feature and other companies (Fossil, Coros) have this ability in their iOS apps.

You have the same control for iOS through the iPhone > Settings > Notifications menu. What you set under the "Options" section for each APP determines what will arrive to your watch. For the APPS I want iOS to report to my watch, I have it set to "Always (Default)" for Messages and Phone and other APPS I want to send to my watch.
