Wi-Fi version 655.35 on 19.20(21)

Hi Everyone,

I though I would start a new thread though I believe it was an issue on previous versions on firmware. It happened to me on 19.20, after that I tried installing 19.21 Beta but Wi-Fi is still at 655.35. Additionally tried loading only Wi-Fi firmware (2.60), watch prepares to update and then restarts, I don't see a message that it is updating, so probably it doesn't stick as I still see 655.35.

On the other side when connected to Garmin Express, there is Wi-Fi update available, after which watch restarts but again version is 655.35 and this update seems to be also available...

Believe that previously the solution to fix was only to go through warranty replacement process, is it still the case? I hope not, in lots of training currently and would like to avoid going through the inconvenience of watch replacement.

But before I could connect the wifi networks that is not hardware issue I think .

It is 100% a hardware issue. I'm sure it used to work, back when the Wifi Firmware was 2.60.

Look up the number 65535 - https://softwareengineering.stackexchange.com/questions/176858/is-there-something-special-about-the-number-65535

It means the watch can not longer talk to the Wifi Chipset and so is reporting all 1's. This equals 65535.

I'm very sorry. I know it's frustrating and annoying to read. But your watch has a hardware failure that requries repair. You might even get it to work temporarily like Ocean5 did, but once it's started to fail you really want to get it repaired ASAP.

This is not a software issue. It's 100% hardware. Sorry.

Do you know the wifi chip is repairable or need to replace the watch ?

It's a warranty replacement.

Before update Wi-fi was searching but not connecting even to no-password wi-fi, after update it doesn't see anything.

Also in the garmin express I always see that wi-fi 2.60 should be updated, but it restarts and the same "need to update up to wi-fi 2.60"

That's a sign of the hardware issue if you're getting 655.35 - it's what happened to me. You are on 655.35, the watch says "update" - you update, it reboots. Cycle continues.

Hi again , I have picked off my watch last week and yesterday Garmin called me and told that this problem relevant with software we fix it. So I am waiting the shipping now

Hi! I have the same problem. Once you have your watch back, could you please share the software version that Garmin installed?

They won't send the watch back, they just issue a replacement watch. The Wifi firmware it comes with will be 2.60.

There is no magic firmware you can install to fix what is a hardware issue.
