Pool Swim Pace calculation doesn't jive with set time. ???

Firmware 19.20  Fenix 6 Pro

See the circled set in red.

250 m in 3:18 is a 1:19 pace/100, not a 1:12.  Like- how could Garmin be so bad at simple math?  wonder why this happens?

The following sets of similar duration, were all calculated correctly. Just this single error (today- but it's happened before).

Also shown in blue, was my 1000 warmup only came up as 975.  I added a 25 drill so that my total distance would be accurate, but I'm finding that my F6P misses a lap or two for every workout.  I use auto-detect rests and let it start and stop the sets on its own.

  • It happens to me pretty often - my problem are either imperfect strokes (style), sometimes you hit the cord or another swimmer Upside down. For tweaking it you can use http://www.swimmingwatchtools.com/ for splitting or adding lost lenghts.

  • Thanks for the confirmation it's not just me.  which means that I'll file a bug report to Garmin.

My stroke is perfect (ok- maybe not 'perfect', but at least decent.  It was a rainy day this morning, I had my own big lane, and nothing interrupted those sets.  Didn't miss a flip-turn or wall, had a good push-off on all of them, no contact with the lane markers or breaks in laps.  Yeah, sometimes i get it's the swimmer's fault- but these sets went smoothly for me.

The Heart Rate accuracy is hit or miss- but can't really blame it given the conditions.  I'm glad they let it try.  sometimes I get a seemingly accurate HR.

I'll try out that tweaker.  looks like just what I need.  :)

  • I guess, reporting is a bit meaningless, but you may encourage the team to improve the algorithm, so far as I know just accelerometer is involved, why not to use magnetometer combined? HR from wrist is very variable, but looks precise while crawling, others are rubbish. Swim band solves it, xcept for sun-tanned stripeSunglasses
