Heart rate zone questions

I’ve been using the default calculated % max HR numbers to date and have a few questions:

- If I am not using a separate/dedicated HR strap and am not going to do lactate or maximum tests, would the watch-generated % HRR approach using maximums and resting detected by the F6 be better than default calculated % max HR?

- If so, I notice that the resting HR automatically populated in the HR zone settings doesn’t match what GCM shows as my resting HR. Do I need to enter that manually or should it automatically populate?

- I notice that run and cycle specific zones are turned on by default (swim too but I don’t swim). The max HR shown in my not sport specific zone is higher than what is shown in run or bike zones (both of which are the same). The only other sports I can think of where my max HR might have gone higher than run or cycle are backcountry skiing, indoor bike, or treadmill (assuming run and cycle are the outdoor versions of those). Is there an argument for just using the same max for all vs having sport specific zones?

- I was looking at all of this on the watch first and was able to set the overall and sport specific zones to max HRR but when I go to GCM, the sport specific zones have the max HR is populated but not the resting HR. Do I need to enter the resting HR manually for the sport specific zones or should it populate automatically? Will the watch setting override the GCM setting? They are different even after a sync.
