19.20 Watch changes to low power mode after saving activity

After receiving OTA 19.20 update, my fenix 6 will change to low power/battery saver mode after saving an activity. It does this consistently with the first activity I save each day. The watch is configured to use battery saver during sleep, 10p-5a. The issue occurs after 5a, when battery saver is off. It happens regardless of battery charge level.

  • Maybe related, but somewhat different.

I woke up earlier than usual, in my “battery saver time range”.

    1. I disabled battery saver to sync the watch
    2. Entered run activity to check the suggested one
    3. Prested back button to go back to the watch face
    4. Now the watch is back on battery saver

Could anyone else reproduce the issue before reporting it to the beta team?

I can reproduce it every time I try.

  • Hi,

same behaviour (fenix 6s on 19.20 at the moment)

I did do this not for a early wake up but for a late bed time (meaning, set to enter power save at 11PM, at 11.30PM I exit power save for sincing, then put back manually in power save and go to bed, woke up with watch in normal mode as it should - since was after the 6AM set time - but after going into the run settings to see the suggested workout and back to watch face it was changed to power safe).

Not sure if this happens entering something else than run setting (like... if a scroll to a widget and then back to watchface, will I get it in power safe also in this case?) - dod not try this, but if I remember it will do tonight.

    Cheers

  • This has been reported by several people and I've certainly experienced it myself. However, I am unaware of anybody who has been able to reproduce it consistently - and believe me, I've tried.

  • New day and I can reproduce the bug via the steps detailed above. 100% of the times. Did you try that?

  • Could anyone else reproduce the issue before reporting it to the beta team?

@ Yes, I reported it to the beta team several months back and gave detailed reproduction steps but no reply. It's not a new 19.20 bug.

I even filmed it happening, so no excuse in my book. forums.garmin.com/.../watch-going-into-power-save-mode-after-finishing-an-activity-video-showing-bug

I no longer report bugs as frankly it's damn rude to have a beta e-mail and not even bother to reply or to assign it to an issue tracker- if they won't make the effort when they are actually paid to fix bugs and I'm not paid to find them or report them, I sadly no longer report bugs as there simply is no engagement with end users.- I just feel reports go into a blackhole.

And I have quite a few bugs including another power save bug which is also reproducible.

  • Tried those steps this morning. And just got the regular watch face, not the power saver.

I do believe you. I've seen it often enough myself. But I cannot replicate it consistently.

  • HI,

Tryed a bunch more times (when I remembered to manually switch off the power save mode before sleeping for a sync, then manually back to low power and... good night!)

The bug presented itself each time, after entering an activity even just to check the suggested workout for the day, once back to the watch face the watch is to low power again.

This happens also if before opening the activity I wonder about in the widgets and menus, settings... whatever else is not causing the auto switch low power.

    cheers,

    F
