Error loading music via Mac OS + Garmin Express

Need help guys, yesterday I have had problem transfer my music files from Macbook Pro Big Sur 11.5.2 OS to my new F6 Pro via Garmin Express.  I tried one music album folder, it shows "Error loading music" pop up window.

There is no option to choose music folder as the GE shows iTunes Library, isn't there?

Today I try to transfer my music ablum and files in Window 10 OS, everything is working fine, there's option to choose between iTunes or manual (which is not avaiable in MacOS), then select the music folder, it's so much simpler and succesfully transfer.

I wish if someone can point me to the correct direction how to transfer music in Macbook Pro, as it is my personal computer, whereas Windows PC is for office stuffs, don't want to mess personal things.

  • Appreciate some advise on music loading from Mac, anyway to change to manual folder loading than iTunes preset library ?  As my music album/folders are stored in external SSD  , avoid overloading the internal hard disc for OS and important apps operation.

  • You'll have to use Android File Transfer to move music from your Mac to the Garmin Music folder, preferably by Artist and then Album so you can find the tracks. I just tested with my Tactix and it works, even though I am using iTunes normally.

AFT does work on Big Sur and M1 - not very pretty, but serviceable!!

  • Thanks . I do occasionally see the Android icon AFT pop up but disappear quickly before I am able to click onto it, my Mac OS is BigSur, I have set F6 Pro on USB media transfer mode. Will try again.   PC is more stable, I can see my watch in file folder as external drive,

I would admit my iTunes Library is in the mess as my music path is in WD MyCloud, migrate from internal hard disc to save space, may be it's not fully migrated over 20k songs and took long hours; some songs are misplaced. Due to sluggish cloud system, I have restored my music collection in external SSD which is easier to access and mobility.

Anyway, I will try to explore AFT method as you pointed like I transfer into Digital Audio Player (DAP) android type. Thanks again.

  • Make sure Garmin Express is closed, even from running in background. And my AFT is v1.0.12.

On a side note keeping your iTunes library on a separate HD is manageable as long as you consolidate your library and point iTunes to the correct location - I'm pretty fussy as to how my library is organised - names, album art etc.
