Strava Live Segments do not work during activity

I have a Strava premium account. I also added some segments to my favorite and they appear in Fenix 6. However, during activity, nothing happens. I do not get any alerts, the segment doesn't start when I approach it. Surprisingly, after the activity is finished and I watch it on Strava everything is recorded. I can see all my results in starred and other segments I approached.
Any idea what I should do to have these segments really Live?

Oh, right! That's a good point about training vs an activity that I totally forgot about. If you're running any workout as opposed to just an activity, live segments are suppressed. Hopefully trying to reset the settings works for you.

And what about courses? If I start a course? Is it supressed?

According to the support page on Strava, yes they will be suppressed. Live segments are not currently supported at this time with courses. It seems that anything that requires prompts such as courses or workouts, will get prioritized over chasing KOMs.

It does seem however according to Garmin when you download a course you can download all the Garmin segments on that course. Perhaps not ideal, but you could duplicate the Strava segments you care about on the course you run on in Garmin and at least then you'll be aware when you're approaching them in real time.

Perhaps this is the solution to my problem. I always set specific trainig and often course as well...

This also happens with garmin segments for cycling activities since beta firmware 18.79 (was working fine in previous beta).

Serments are downloaded on the watch, serment alerts is on, segments appear in the activity after saving, but segment alerts don't work during activity.

So a follow up on this. I turned Strava live segments back on in Garmin Connect yesterday. I then went to Strava and starred a segment that would be on the route I was going to ride today so that it would be added to my list of live segments. I rode today and everything worked. It also still takes up the entire screen with the exception of the overlay for my Garmin Varia radar so I still don't know if I'll keep it on. I just wanted to let people know that it worked for me. I have a Fenix 6X Pro Solar running 19.20 software.

I can confirm that segments don't work when course navigation is used.

And in general I find live segments to be quite unreliable. Occasionally my watch notifies me about a segment but fails to start it. On some segments it consistently fails to finish missing segment end. And when running on trails it fails to track segments to the end, dropping off segment in a middle, in more than 50% of cases. If a segment is long, it fails pretty much 100% of time. Garmin has implemented extremely tight tolerance for detecting going off segment, so that triggers often for no particular reason even if I am right on a segment.

PROBLEM SOLVED. Live segments do not work when training or course is on. When i started regular activity everything was working again. Thanks!
