User Indoor Ride Profile without Smart Trainer?

Dear Users,

I'd like to record my indoor rides with the fenix6, BUT, will it work if there is no smart trainer connected? I'd record there rides with a paired powermeter, which delivers power, speed, cadence and distance. Will it work or does the fenix expect or even enforce it to be paired with a smart trainer while using this profile?

I'm asking this because I do my Session using Zwift and Zwift will controll the Kickr, but I still want the advanced metrics, so the Kickr would be paired as a normal powermeter to the fenix.

Sure, but make sure you specifically pair it as a power meter, rather than a trainer. That way it will be Zwift that controls the resistance, not the Fenix.

It'll totally work. I've been doing this with four different Neo trainers and Zwift for over 5.5 years.

It does make life simpler if you do not pair with the watch as a trainer, but, if you want to follow Garmin workouts controlled by the watch you can pair as a trainer with the watch and disconnect the controllable trainer pairing in Zwift.
