19.10 update caused my HRM Pro to misfunctioning

My HRM Pro was perfectly functioning until I updated fenix 6s pro to 19.10 from 15.20 few days ago: I updated the watch and went out for a run with the hrm and did an other run the next day, only then I realize that hrm pro was not functioning (cause the heart rate was taken by whrist sensor). First I tried to turn off and on the watch, took off and in batteries on hrm, reassociate watch and belt, nothing, then I changed batteries on the Hrm (but they had 7 month live they shouldn't have been discharged) and seemed working but the watch reported there was an update for the belt to 7.40 (was still on 7.1 but 7.40 is indicated as beta), so I updated to 7.40 and used it for some runs, in which garmin connect says HRM Pro was connected, cardio was detected (but i did'nt try to disconnect whirst sensor to be sure of it) but not the Running Dinamycs, sometime it disconnects, it says battery low (and it's new) and in rest the values are above 10/20 bpm the whrist sensor ones. I can't believe there was a malfunctioning at the same time of the updating, the two thing are related. My mistake was to updating when everything was ok...but these hrm are awful, it's the third broken (2 Run and a Pro) and too expensives for this quality.

  • Got 19.10 last thursday and i have been using my polar H10 with ant+ and it picks up the HR. Although when i ride, i do not wear the watch it is on the handlebar. Tomorrow at the gym, i will do strength training. I will see if the lights are still flashing on my wrist instead of the strap.

  • I will see if the lights are still flashing on my wrist instead of the strap.

They always will if you have Garmin Pay activated. It is used to monitor if the watch is removed from your wrist and if it is it will lock the wallet enforcing a pin to open it.

  • I am sorry you are having an issue with your HRM-Pro. Based on your description, your issue does not suggest the new v19.10 software update is the issue. The newer v7.40 update that your HRM-Pro was updated to may have gone sideways. Please reach out to your regional Outdoor Product Support. We will be happy to assist further.

  • Thank you for your answer. Anyway misfunctioning began in the first run just after the update 19.10 (the previous run everything was ok) and before the 7.40 update on the Hrm (that i did after two run in which hrm was already not correctly functioning or not functioning at all), now the hrm does not work and drains batteries very fast (the 7 months live battery that was on it and other two brand new went discharged in few time). It seems like the 19.10 update corrupted software on the hrm. I would try to reinstall software 7.1 (not the 7.40) on the hrm pro, could you please send a link to download this file?

  • You can get older firmware software through the Beta posts always at the top of each watch forum. Download the correct Beta software for your watch and in the folder you will unzip, will also be rollback software to the last official version. Instructions are on the bottom of the Beta webpage.

Beta v18.80 along with older Software

  • It's not just you, I have exactly the same issue after the 19.10 update was installed overnight a week ago on my Fenix 6s pro.

Morning after the update my watch was disconnected from my phone and I could not get it to reconnect again.

After resets and countless reboots, it finally reconnected, ever re-paired everything which was an absolute noghtmare, it was almost as if the watch cut bluetooth off halfway through pairing.

After that on my first run I could not get the watch to conenct to either my hrm pro or my stryd (both connected via ANT+)

    Only connected after a reboot.

Then today agaon during my run, my phone got disconnected, my HRM Pro and my stryd also dropped all at the same time.

The stryd and HRM Pro reconnected after a bit during the run, but my phone connection still isn't up now.

The 19.10 update is a nightmare Bluetooth wise, my phone and watch always kept perfect connection, now it's pure hit and miss, and countless rebooting of both.

Please sort it, just about to report this to the outdoor team via email also, but it's deffo not your HRM pro as all my BT stuff, also ANT+ connected devices keep disconnectiung random.

  • My 19.10 upgrade from 12.20 was painless. All my Bluetooth and ant + devices were still connected and no drop out. I have a cadence sensor, a smart trainer and a polar H10 strap. The only thing that did not upgrade was the gps. I am still at 4.40

  • It seems totally random for me when it connects and disconnects.

Just hope it gets sorted soon.

  • Bluetooth connection for me seems ok for now even if I didn't use it a lot for being sure of that, ok also other ant+ connections to speed and cadence sensors, I got problem only with hrm pro, I will try again with new batteries (hrm has discharged 3 batteries) then i'll replace it under warranty. Anyway I tried the hrm with another garmin watch 630, and was misfunctioning at the same way, so I don't know what happened I only know that until the 19.10 update everything was ok with hrm pro.

  • I am facing similar problems with Garmin Fenix 5 and HRM Pro. The minute I connect the HRM Pro to the watch it hangs and it is difficult to even reboot the watch. Only after a long wait of upto an hour that the watch returns to normal operations. It specifically happens after starting an activity with the HRM Pro connected to the watch.
