help me choose a map

hi guys , i got a new fenix 6 pro sapphire which has preloaded map on it but i need to unlock a new region on it ( north africa) now i found two available choices on garmin

1- Topo Active africa 2021 (010-D1572-04) that cost 60 dolars

2- Topo North Africa V4 Light (010-D1513-02) that cost 20 dolars

whats the difference between the two maps ( besides that the first one has all the countries in AFRICA unlocked which i dont need) ? and my second question do this maps contain only trails and mountains or u can use them for a run in the city ?

There's plenty of good reliable sites for free (and legit free) OSM maps

Bbbike is awsome, used it for years. The beam is much more detailed and also based on the updated OSM. Has POIs and it's routable. For me is perfect because all the elements are much more visible, specially…

I'm not going to answer your question directly, just to advise you that you can install free maps or maps which are cheaper that the Garmin maps. Sorry Garmin! Browse online and in this forum to get better and more info.

hey bro ty , i actually thought of that but tbh i wasnt sure of finding a reliable website that can provide a clean bug free maps , so i honestly since am not much of a tech guy i dont want to take risks and damage a 750 bucks watch XDDD if the 20 dolars maps do fine i will go for it , am just confused if the light version dont have streets and city maps , ty anyway for ur assist

Simply download the img file and copy it to /Garmin on the watch

thxxx :)))) i tried the bbbike.org , it was simple and i made my first map already 20 bucks saved xdd i will try ur website , does it have nice road mapping and pois for city runs ?

This text here compare them for Australia. I would assume it is similar for Africa. Big difference I see and Lite has no later updates and it is based on Here while the Topo Active is based on OSM, get updated and has more info in it.

As other have said, there are also good quality OSM based maps you can download for free.

thxxx and wow the diff is kinda biig , its like i need a topo full with a 100 dolars maybe :o to get a real map , the rest is almost like a breadcrumb navigation :((((((
