No backlight on run for Garmin Fenix 6S

Garmin Fenix 6S. When I click ‘Run’ option my screen turns blank. On my run my screen remains blank until I press the light. The ‘turn the wrist’ for backlight option doesn’t work. What can I do?

What is the backlight setting?

Settings->System->Backlight->During Activity

I only have Gesture activated after sunset.

Sorry I’m not explaining it well. Firstly does Garmin have the setting where when you’re running/cycling, when you turn your wrist, the light comes on? I’m getting a completely blank screen as soon as I press start activity.
At the moment my settings ‘gesture’ is on.
