Yes, it does and you don't need to activate it but it is only shown before saving the activity. There are other platforms that can show you the recovery HR afterwards. Take a look at this thread: https…
after training (before saving) scroll trough options, there should be "recovery heart rate" position. It's 2 minutes variant. RHR is saved into the fit file, but not used by garmin software…

Yes. The two minutes timer for the RHR starts automatically in the background when you press the Start/Stop button to pause/end the activity.
When you select the 'Recovery Heart Rate' option it will take you to a screen with a countdown timer showing the time remaining from the two minutes. When the timer expires the RHR is shown.
