Transfer paid for maps

Hi,

I have an F6 Pro, which was bought retail in Hong Kong - I had the choice of the local APAC version or international with US maps. I got the US version and uploaded OSM maps for Hong Kong and China. I moved back to Europe 18 months ago and purchased the European maps for the watch.

Now I want to sell the watch - Once the new owner registers the device, will they get updates for the installed European maps, which are connected to my Garmin account as a purchase?

You never get updates for purchased topo maps. If there is a new version, it must be purchased again.

Not directly an answer to your question, but something to be aware of: If you buy Topo maps for a fenix watch, they are linked to that device. ASAIK, if you buy a new watch later (e.g. a fenix 7 whenever that will come out), you cannot transfer your purchase to the new watch. Since Topo maps easily cost > 100 $ or € this should be considered. Therefore before buying a Topo map I check if the OSM version is sufficient.

The maps are licensed directly to the watch and the region of the watch. Based on what you have stated, your Fenix 6 Pro series watch is assigned to North America. This means the TopoActive North America mapping can be updated using Garmin Express.

Maps purchased for other regions, IE: TopoActive North America, TopoActive South America, TopoActive Africa, TopoActive Europe and others available - are one-time purchases for the version you bought at the time of purchase. If the added TopoActive map needs to be updated, it would be a new purchase for the newer version.
