How about using a generic cardio profile?
If you buy the new HRM-Pro HRM belt, you can not wear the watch and still track heart rate and steps while playing. This won't record an activity, however.
There is a cute Badminton app that even tells you whos turn it is to start and works to keep track of the points and stores some basic metrics: apps.garmin.com/.../51606451-57e2-4f99-9420-2ba5a80b5df6
I am using this app: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/1d68ae88-0874-4f7b-80e3-b1ee87dc571e
Basically you can just use cardio or other mode, it will basically track the same. But in generel badminton is really hard to track for the watch. Heartrate is spiking a lot and there is no specific move pattern for the watch to track. So do not expect really good HR values and especially distance metrics (sport+ calculates the distance different, but with the "original" garmin sport modes the watch says i move around 300 meters in 2 hours, i think i do quite a lot more ;-) Sports+ says somethin around 4,5 KM. This will also not be 100% correct but it looks far more reasonable for me )
