Fenix 6 countdown timer/alert/backlight bug?

Hello all,

Is it just me or is it impossible to set a countdown timer without the backlight activating when countdown alert activates?

I've been wearing a Fenix 6 Sapphire since late 2019 (mostly for running with) and while I'm now very familiar with the hardware/software I have never had any reason to bother with the countdown timer feature… until now.

I've recently had a minor irritation in my right eye for which my GP prescribed eye-drops. I decided to use the countdown timer as a reminder (a sort of mnemonic or 'digital handkerchief knot') to take the aforementioned drops. This works wonderfully… I get a little chirp/vibration every time I need to drip an eye-drop! I then hit the start button which automatically restarts the count.

However, I noticed the backlight illuminating along with the tone/vibe when countdown ends which I don't require, particularly during daylight hours.

I've tried deactivating backlight (for countdown timer only) but can't.
No matter what I try: System-> Backlight-> Not During Activity-> Alerts: [Off/On/After Sunset] nothing works. The backlight still illuminates alongside tone/vibe when countdown ends.

Unsure if this is a software glitch or I'm doing something wrong. I appreciate this is not mission critical but it's irksome just the same. Can someone with a Fenix 6 Sapphire test and/or point me in the right direction/system setting please?

For the record I have the latest software release (16.70) installed.

Thank you.
