Lumen???

Has anyone used Lumen with your watches??

Anyone tried Lumen out at all??

  • I tried Lumen for a few weeks, but returned it within the 30 day period as it did not suit my needs at all. I am in ketosis and it misunderstands burning ketones as burning carbs. It is far too expensive to be giving false judgements and inappropriate advice.

I wrote some feedback about this on the 5krunner site....

That doesn't mean that it is a bad product, but it was the wrong product for me.

I did use the Lumen widget with my 6X, but didn't find it at all useful. It pops up reminders to take a reading, but not at the right time, so pretty pointless IMHO. Other data was static reference info that I would see when using my phone to take a reading.

  • Fantastic thanks for that buddy. I’m training everyday and was interested in getting some metabolic reading to help with eating the correct food at the right time.
    thanks for this buddy.

  • My goal currently is weight loss (-13 kg so far this year), and for me the most effective solution is one meal per day and low carb/keto. Lumen is not intended to support such a lifestyle.

If you are interested in metabolic flexibility and freely switching between fat and carbs for energy then it can help with that, but you need to be willing to follow its variable advice, day to day, on macro quantities. It will adjust ratios and quantities based on activity levels and your metabolic response to food and exercise.

For OMAD and Keto I don't need those things. I had hoped that it would confirm my state of ketosis, but since it misunderstands ketosis it cannot even do that.

  • Lumen is not a very good product IMHO.

It relies on measuring your CO2 when you breathe out. But the results are "random" at best.

And CO2 sensors are very sensitive. You soak the sensor in spit and humidity when breathing out - which will impact any measurement over time.  There is NO filter between your "breath" and the sensor. So the sensor will slowly show you burn less and less fat as it will read less and less CO2 parts in your out breath.

I guess after 6-8 months of usage Lumen will be a bucket of nasty germs - so please do not breathe IN through it..

Apart from that their "Suggested foods" are hard to find and very elitist (aka expensive) - and not very flexible at all.

On the plus side their support is responsive (or was)

I'm doing a teardown video of the Lumen at some point. I have one here on my desk in pieces Slight smile

And on another minus side - the Garmin App wanted far too much personal info about you incl. your GPS position at all times. Forget it Mossad... (I don't know if it still does)
