Are newer features coming to Fenix 6?

Hello,

I'm a F6 user and I'm interested in some of the new features recently published, but absent in F6.

As Chris replies in Fitness Age 2.0 thread:

"When a new feature is just introduced in a new product in the Fitness segment, such as the Fitness Age 2.0 that is seen in the new Forerunner 945/LTE models and interest is shown in it arriving in the Fenix series, we are happy to pass it along to our engineers for consideration."

Is there a chance it comes to Fenix 6 as well? How about HIIT, eBike and other profiles? Any chance they're introduced as software update for Fenix 6 when Fenix 7 is released?

How did Garmin treat the watches historically?

New features? What new features do you need?

I would be thrilled if all the existing features worked as they should! Thinking about 6X features that I need the most as a trail runner, most of them are glitchy or broken to some degree, and I am not exaggerating!

Yeah, the fast-clams are not really secure. If you're worried, replace them with standard ones.

I can't fully agree with you here. These days "watches" are not complete products, they're hardware platforms that actually require external cloud for their full functionality. Their software gets updated and polished over time, sometimes bringing additional functionality.

I'm a relatively new Garmin user, and of course I understand that each piece of hardware has it's limitations- yet I'd be unhappy, if some relatively simple features wouldn't be added to existing watches once new ones are out, only to make us upgrade (buy new stuff).

I personally believe that with earth's finite resources manufacturing new hardware and buying it for new software functions isn't the most reasonable idea- I'd gladly pay for a software update if it meant I could keep my existing piece of tech up-to-date for longer.

Thanks and good to know that. However, that's too late for me.

Garmin should advise that and put a disclaimer. That's a big failure not doing so. I am just going through other chats, and it looks like several people had the same issue loosing their watch!

Right, but historically Garmin absolutely does support and add new features to the Fenix lines for years after they come out, and often even for a year or two after a newer model has replaced it. They've added stuff to the 3-year-old discontinued 5 Plus line as recently as the last few months. So that's why I don't understand that people are complaining. People are in an uproar over something that Garmin "might" not do, even though historically they do.

I have no idea how garmin has proceeded historically, that was part of my original question.

That's peculiar, on the Garmin website it doesn't mention the Fenix 6

Yeah, I saw that, and yet I definitely see the updated fitness age screens in GCM - are other F6 owners seeing it too?
