Hi! Is the accelerometer on F6X good enough for run cadence, etc. or do I need the HRM-Pro or the the Run Dynamic Pod? Thanks.

You don't need it unless you are excited to collect Garmin "Running Dynamics". The HRM-Run, HRM-Tri, HRM-Pro, and RD-Pod add Running Dynamics beyond cadence and average stride length.
You…
You don’t need it but you will likely get better data form a HRM-Pro or RD pod.

I rinse and hang dry my Tri after every use and "wash" it once weekly (slosh it around in a bowl of water with a drop or two of dish soap). I just surpassed the 5 year mark using it 3-4 times weekly minus my 6 month hiatus from running after my surgery.
Whilst on the subject of HRMs, I have the HRM-tri which came as part of a kit with a Fenix 5. I’ve since upgraded to the 6x sapphire which lists the new HRM-pro as compatible but no mention of the HRM-tri. Can anyone please confirm that the HRM-tri is compatible with Fenix 6 series?
Yes. All of the Garmin HRM models based on ANT going back years and years are compatible. So are 3rd party ones from Polar and Wahoo. Any HRM that supports ANT+ or Bluetooth should be compatible.
Tallying on fingers and toes, I have seen an 80+% failure rate on Garmin integrated HRM among my running and triathlon mates.
You are either an gentle HRM unicorn or you got a good one. You are lucky.
