Garmin Tactix Delta stops solar charging when it gets too hot

So like many others, I decided to see what kind of charging I get when I leave my Tactix Delta solar in the sun to charge. I actually left it in my car instead of outside (i understand this isn't the most efficient charge but that's besides the point), but at some point while in the sun, the watch stopped solar charging. When i came back to my watch, i could see a few hours before that it just stopped reading the sun light. The graph shows that it just stopped while still being in the sun. But i also noticed that my watch was really hot to the touch. So i let the watch cool down and then it started solar charging again.

Is this normal for the watch to stop solar charging when it gets too hot or do I have an issue? I haven't noticed anyone else, who has done the same thing, talk about this issue.
