Watch going into power save mode after finishing an activity (video showing bug)

Hi

This has actually been going on for several weeks or even months (certainly since 15.71b) and still with most up to date firmware.

My watch is set to 10pm-730AM power saving sleep mode. I occasionally toggle battery saving on manually if I don't think I'll be doing much on a particular day. I do not do anything odd or unusual with the watch otherwise.

I have actually managed to capture this today with a video!

(note some of the top right button presses are just finger trouble, not reproduction steps)

  • Hi, I've noticed exactly the same behaviour (emailed beta 2 months ago, I think it wasn't here before fw15 because I didn't change my settings). In my scenario it looks like that:

    - watch is set to prompt 'saver mode' when battery gets lower than 20% - I accept (saver mode is on)

    - later I charge a watch (then it comes back to normal mode automatically)

    - when finished first activity after that watch always switches to saver mode.

You can try to reproduce, but I'm pretty sure it will be the same.

  • This bug annoys me as well, and have certainly experienced it on saving - it goes way back before FW 15). But I am unable to reproduce it consistently. Just tried repeating the steps in your video, and of course there was no sign of the bug. (Sod's Law).

  • It's been doing it pretty consistently all week for me, I've been generally doing an Indoor ride early in the day, then finding my watch is randomly in power saver sometime later. But yesterday I actually observed it flip to power save directly after the save, hence seeing if I could reproduce it again today.  I will see if I can reproduce tomorrow. It seems to be the first activity / first sync of the day maybe. I've double checked my settings and the only power save mode I have is sleep,. set for 10PM-730AM, so it's flipping outside that window.

  • I think it's related to automatic save mode on/off. For me it happens only for first activity after transition from saver mode to normal. When yours have automatic saver mode every night then it will similar, first activity after that, but no for other on same day..

  • Hello, I confirm that my F6pro behaves similarly on FW20.50. Automatic Battery Saver is set to switch on automatically during sleep.

  • I've figured out how to reproduce this (I think)

Let the watch go into battery saver mode at the automated time.

Then, manually, take power saver mode off.  Do a few things.  Turn power saver mode back on.

Then at the automatic time in the morning, power saver mode turns off.  All works fine UNTIL you do an activity.  Then at the end of the activity, power saver mode turns on.

  • Yes exactly the same as your steps described until.... "All works fine" I don't need to go into an activity to reproduce the bug... Mine will go into power saving mode (out of its setting schedule) again sometime in the afternoon while not in activity...

  • I can confirm my device behaves the very same.
