Fenix 6S Pro HR sensor keeps on all the time?

Just want to know if I set HR sensor to Auto, it will keep on all the time? Doesn't fenix 6 has an option to measure from time to time to preserve battery and sensor it self? Like fok 10 to 10 minutes it turns on for a while and then turns off.

I'm asking cause I want to have a HR measure from time to time but for me it is not necessary to keep up all the time.

And I'm worried how long it could stand on for years. The last fenix I had, I used for 6 years.

  • Yes, it will stay on all the time. The LED sensor is intended to run 24/7, and the 6S has a rated battery life of 9 days with the HR sensor running that way. LED's themselves typically last years.

You could use the Power Manager to turn the HR sensor off overnight if you want to save some battery life. However, it is worth noting that a number of the features such as Body Battery and Sleep Tracking do require the HR data to work.

  • Exactly as "mcalista" says, the HR sensor is very energy efficient.
Something that does affect battery life more aggressively is if you have Pulse Oximeter turned on.
On my Fenix 6 Pro (not s6) it lowers my battery life from 11 days to 9 days if i turn on Pulse Ox in "night mode only". Of course it takes more battery if i turn it on for "all day mode".

So, i would keep HR turned on 24/7 and turn off Pulse Ox if not used or not of interest.

  • Thanks for replying. Already using power manager to turn off when I don't need. I guess I don't have any questions about Fenix 6 any more. Best watch I've ever had.
