Weird text message notification bug

My watch randomly showed the "text message recieved" icon and the vibrate...and then just gets stuck there and continually does it until I turn the watch off. If I restart the watch it just starts it again and continually won't stop. The weirdest thing is I didn't even receive a text message. I went into garmin connect and disabled all notifications and that didn't stop it. Any ideas? I took a video but it looks like I can't post it here.

  • Your watch is passive. Your Android or iOS mobile phone operating system has to push the message to your watch. If you shut off your Bluetooth connection altogether by going to your Phone menu and turning it off, if the issue stops, it is pointing to something really bizarre taking place on your smartphone.

Start with disconnecting your watch and phone through the watch phone menu. If the issue stops, now you know for certain it is a phone behavior.

If your watch is stuck within its own memory and has the issue 100% unrelated to your phone, the issue will continue on your watch even after you severed the connection to your smartphone.

  • Thanks Chris! I did disable the connection but the watch was stuck doing it, even after a reset. I ended up turning it off for a longer period (around 15 minutes) while i scoured youtube for answers, and when i turned it back on it seemed to have stopped. Your answer is really helpful though and Im really happy to think its caused by the phone and not the watch. I've already had one warranty claim :( thanks again!
