Leather bracelet discoloration on the skin

Since january of this year i own an additional leather bracelet from garmin (brown), barely 6 months later the inside of the bracelet starts to rub off on the skin. So far i have not received any statisfactory feedback from garmin support.

Does anyone of you have the same experience?

Washing the bracelet several times did not bring any imporvement until now.

  • Are you using it for your activities too? If so it’s possibly a build up of bacteria in the leather. Garmin have tended to be quick to respond to issues related to possible skin reactions.

Has it got better since you’ve been cleaning it?

  • no, i only use the leather bracelet for everyday use (office...). For sports i use either the supplied silicone bracelet or an bike mount.

And also no, currently no improvement, the wash water keeps discoloring dark. If i weat the watch again with the leather strap i get renewed discoloration on the skin :-(

yep - i got a quick reply, i was offered a silicone bracelet as an exchange - but i do not find this reply statisfactory

What do you find satisfactory that Garmin should do?

  • - an indication of whether this is a known, "normal" problem.
    - if known, a hint how this problem can be solved?
    - not getting a silicone bracelet to replace a leather bracelet.

but finally, i have received today a feedback from support - problem was solved very well by support, so everything is positive for me

Thanks for the answers in this thread

  • so per Subra, how did Garmin finally resove your issue to your satisfaction?

And did they ever give you a reason around the cause?

  • no feedback as to why this problem may accur.

But at least i get as an exchange a new leather bracelet - i hope this problem does not occur again with the new bracelet

  • cool - makes more like for like replacement, but hope you don't have the same occur again.
