Analog watchface: Datafields covered by hands - how to read out data fields

Hi,

I use an analog watchface with several data fields (date, charge state etc.).

At certain times theses are covered by one or both hands (hour and minute), which hides the information.

Is there a way to move both hands temporariliy into a neutral position, e.g. 12 o'clock?

Thanks.

  • With the built in watch faces that's not possible, although some of them do have data fields along the edge so they are readable all the time.

If you are using a third party ConnectIQ watch face you may be able to ask for this by contacting the developer. I'm not sure if that's something that's even possible with ConectIQ but there might be a way.

  • Not the most elegant solution, but relatively quick: long press the Menu button and then select Watch Face (default first selection) will show hands in 10:10 (classic advertising position), which will show all datafields in the default analog watch face. One minor benefit is that exiting this mode you’ll see the cool animation of hands moving back to whatever time it is.

Garmin should make this a Hot Key. I’ve also made the suggestion that in the hands with outlines (not the solid ones) the dark space should be ‘transparent’ to allow data fields to show (they are currently opaque)

  • If you are referring to the fields around the edge of the dial, it is possible to choose shorter hands that don't obscure these fields. Unfortunately this will still cover fields towards the center of the dial.

  • How silly. There should be analog watchfaces with short little hands, + perimeter dots so the watch lets the data shine through.  For pete's sake, with so many things right, they get this wrong?  I really hate digital watches. My brain's analog.
